Overview
This person should be a natural relationship builder. We are particularly interested in candidates with existing connections within estate agency, property development, accountancy, legal services, financial services, wealth management, real estate investment, professional services, business networks and landlords or property investors.
Strong business development involves prospecting, rejection, follow-up, relationship building and consistency — we are not looking to make the role sound effortless, because it isn't.
What you'll do
- Build introducer relationships
- Generate qualified mortgage and protection opportunities
- Develop strategic accounts
- Identify local and national partnerships
- Attend networking and industry events
- Develop relationships with estate agencies and property professionals
- Build referral channels
- Generate leads through proactive outreach
- Manage existing introducer relationships
- Identify dormant relationships which can be reactivated
- Work closely with advisers to convert opportunities
- Track activity and conversion through the CRM
What we're looking for
- Existing B2B relationship-building experience preferred
- Existing relationships within property or professional services highly desirable
- Demonstrable ability to generate opportunities
- Strong communication skills
- Confident telephone manner
- Commercial mentality
- High activity levels
- Persistence
- Organisation
- Ability to work independently
- A genuine can-do attitude
How you'll succeed
- Treat prospecting as a daily habit, not something you do when the pipeline runs dry
- Expect rejection as a normal part of the job and keep going regardless — most introducer relationships take repeated contact before they convert
- Review dormant relationships regularly rather than only chasing new ones — reactivating a lapsed introducer is often faster than winning a new one
- Log activity and outcomes properly in the CRM so patterns in what's working are visible, not just felt
- Work as closely with advisers as with introducers — an opportunity you generate is only worth something once it's actually converted
What Lockhart Murphy provides
- The Lockhart Murphy brand and reputation
- CRM and technology to track activity and conversion
- Central marketing capability
- Direct access to advisers to convert opportunities quickly
- Autonomy over how you build and manage your network
